CrowdVision expands into new offices

Following a successful 12 months in respect of client acquisition, by mid-2017 CrowdVision’s London HQ team needed more office space. We moved to new space in Greenwich, near the O2.

CrowdVision is hiring!

In early 2016, we open an office in Melbourne to support clients throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Office in New York

Following the Highstar acquisition, we open our first office outside London. The office in New York supports clients throughout the Americas.

Highstar Capital invests

Highstar Capital invests and takes a majority stake in the business having seen the CrowdVision solution deliver significant benefits at London City Airport (LCY), an asset part-owned by Highstar at the time. LCY was sold by Highstar and co-investors in 2016 for one of the highest multiples ever seen in the airport sector.

CrowdVision Lands At Heathrow

In 2014, London Heathrow began a trial of the CrowdVision solution in T2 Check In. In 2016, Heathrow carried out an extensive competitive vendor assessment, and selected CrowdVision as its Passenger Flow Analytics Partner. More information is available here

Deployment at London City Airport

In 2013, London City Airport deploys CrowdVision to measure its core “20 min to gate – 15 min back to kerb” strategic goal for passenger journey times, as well as identify opportunities for process improvement.

Nov 11

CrowdVision raises investment

In 2012 CrowdVision closed a substantial funding round. Investors included the UK Government sponsored Angel CoFund and a number of UK and overseas investors. There was another successful Angel round in 2014.

Software evolves and PhD written

Anders submits his PhD thesis, “Data-Driven Modelling of Pedestrian Crowds”, and wins the Global Security Challenge for his idea of using software to monitor crowded places.

2007

CrowdVision deployed at Mecca

In 2007, the CrowdVision technology was deployed in Saudi Arabia to help keep people safe during the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. In subsequent years, the deployment footprint has expanded. The solution accurately measures occupancies and densities in very crowded spaces, enabling authorities to take decisive action where required to maintain pilgrims’ safety.

Software first developed

Dr. Anders Johansson develops what will become CrowdVision technology for the Saudi Arabian government, who wanted an automated, video-based crowd analytics solution to help improve safety during the Hajj pilgrimage at Mecca.

Meet our team

At the last count, CrowdVision had about 40 employees, with the core technical and R&D team based in London alongside our EMEA regional office. We have additional regional offices in New York and Melbourne. The senior team has many decades’ experience in a variety of industries, from national security and defence to real estate, retail and airport management – as well as crowd analytics and software development.

Before CrowdVision

Fiona spent the first 10 years of her career in the Ministry of Defence. She managed large Government/Industry and International projects, served in Ministers’ Offices and became the Director of Science and Technology Policy supporting the Chief Scientific Adviser. She left the MoD to join a strategy consulting firm active in defence and national security sectors, and built its Homeland Security practice. She then co-founded Secure Futures, a consulting firm helping government agencies and major corporates develop industry and technology strategies. In 2009, Fiona collaborated with Dr Anders Johansson to found Crowd Vision Ltd.

Before CrowdVision

Previously, Jason was an Advisor at the Crown Prince Court in Abu Dhabi and Development Director for the John Buck Company. Jason was instrumental in the development of the Abu Dhabi Media Free Zone (twofour54) where media and tech companies from around the world are now based including CNN, BBC, Sky News, Cartoon Network and many others. Earlier in his career, Jason was Advisor for various international NGOs, Jason consulted on projects in Bosnia, Croatia, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Armenia, India and Uzbekistan. These economic and social development projects included Housing & Infrastructure Reconstruction, Microfinance and Community Development.

At CrowdVision

As the CFO, Jason is responsible for overseeing CrowdVision’s funding, strategic partnerships, and overarching corporate-financial strategy. Jason works out of CrowdVision’s New York Office. Jason is also the Chairman of Envelope, a 3D real estate analysis application, and an Advisor / Investor in Distll, a mobile app platform for niche brands. Jason has an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and B.S. in Finance from Miami University (OH).

Jason is also an Advisor to Highstar Capital ($3B AUM) which is an Infrastructure Fund that owns and operates airports. In 2015, Highstar Capital made a strategic investment in CrowdVision as part of its strategy to bring data-driven decision making to large scale infrastructure assets.

Stuart has held executive roles in both large corporate organisations and start-up companies that have demonstrated rapid growth, these include Verint, KANA, eVergance and KNOVA. His expertise is in Services, Operations, Product Development and Corporate Transformation, and he has leveraged these skills in several market arenas including Knowledge Management, Customer Experience, ERP, Local Government CRM and various Mobile solutions. Stuart has a long track record in delivering solutions in the Cloud, on premise and as Hybrids. He is a strong customer centric leader with a focus on customer success. Stuart joined CrowdVision in July 2016 to actively support the growth of the business.

In his role as COO, Stuart is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the business including Business Development & Marketing, Product Engineering & Management, Professional Services & Support, Cloud & Managed Services. Chris has a background in the retail and technology sectors, beginning in the UK working for TopShop and ASDA/Wal-Mart. During this time he completed an MBA at London Business School. Upon moving to Australia in the late 90s, Chris first led an Asia Pacific online retailer, before joining a drinks wholesaler as Supply Chain and then Business Development Director. In 2008, as CEO, he launched the USA’s largest furniture e-tailer, Wayfair, into Australia. Immediately prior to joining CrowdVision, Chris was COO/CFO of a retail technology services business that he had co-founded.
